Known for their power vocals, 2AM is now making an LP (which stands for Long Play, or Long Playing; in other words, a vinyl record) for their newest mini-album.
On March 6th, Big Hit Entertainment stated,
“With sales scheduled to begin on the 12th, 2AM’s mini-album ‘F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Way of Love‘ has plans to be released as an LP.”
Presently, there is not even one LP production company in Korea, which really shows the uniqueness in this endeavor. In fact, a special request had to be made to an American factory.
Making an LP is 5 times more expensive than making a CD and takes about an additional 8-9 weeks of hard labor. Moreover, young fans already find it troublesome to carry around CDs, so they often just download the MP3 files.

Nevertheless, despite potentially having to bear a money loss, 2AM went ahead and made the LP version because they wanted to showcase the sensitivity in their ballads through the analog recording (as opposed to digital recording).
Anyways, fans can reserve their copy of the LP starting on March 7th via major online sites and will receive their copy two months later on May 15th.
In the meantime, 2AM will comeback with the official sale of their mini-album ‘Fitzgerald’s Way of Love’ on March 12th. 60 lucky Naver music purchasers of the album will be randomly selected and invited to a 2AM ‘Unplugged Fan Meeting‘ scheduled for the near future.
The sounds you hear on an LP record are definitely very different from those you hear from a digital CD or through your MP3 player today, and I think it’s great to see a Korean group wanting to bring those sounds back and provide a different listening experience for their fans. Unfortunately, I doubt many of their fans have an old record player. Will you be getting a limited edition 2AM LP record? Comment below on what you think about 2AM’s move to vinyl!
