Hip-hop couple Tiger JK and Yoon Mirae were selected to represent and promote the Uijeongbu International Music Theater Festival.
The couple will also hold a free concert as part of the festival's promotional activities. The free concert will be held at Uijeongbu's Arts Center on May 20th, which will also be the last day of the fifteen day event.
The annual festival was officially launched in 2002 and mostly featured musicals, opera, and classical music in its events. However, this year, they are set to include modern music as part of the finale.
A representative from the committee revealed, “To make the festival more approachable to the public, we asked the couple to take on the role of promotional ambassadors, and they happily accepted the offer.”
When asked about their participation in the festival, Yoon Mirae revealed that Uijeongbu is like her hometown and went on to state, “It's natural to have affection for the place where we live. I've lived here since my childhood and all my relatives also live here. I won't move away because people and the environment are great here.” Her husband, Tiger JK, also stated, “I married and had a baby in Uijeongbu, so I can say I found love and family here.”
The concert in May 20th will also feature other top hip-hop artists in the industry.
