Indie music duo Peppertones has released their fourth album, titled “Beginner's Luck.” Consisting of members Sayo (guitar) and Noshel (bass and vocals), Peppertones was formed while the two were students at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). Since debuting in 2004 with their EP, “A Preview”, the duo has released three albums, in addition to appearing on Mint Paper's “Dog Story”. Most recently, Peppertones produced the track “1,2,3″ for f(x), featured on SM Entertainment's Christmas album, “2011 SMTOWN Winter 'The Warmest Gift'”. “Beginner's Luck” marks the group's first full length album since “Sounds Good!” in 2009.
“Beginner's Luck” consists of eleven tracks, all composed and written by the duo themselves. Although Peppertones is known for their indie electronic pop style, seen in their previous productions such as “Superfantastic”, “Bike”, and “Sing!”, their latest album showcases indie rock elements more prominently than the electronic music elements they have traditionally incorporated. As with their previous releases, “Beginner's Luck” features bright and pleasant melodies in conjunction with cheerful vocals. Most notably is the appearance of Noshel's own vocals throughout the album (with the exception of the track “Black Mountain”, which features Lalasweet's Kim Hyuna), as previous Peppertones productions have traditionally featured guest vocalists.
