
The music chart, Gaon, was first established in early 2010 by the Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCIA) and became the 1st officially recognized chart for both online and offline music sales.
It has been announced by the KMCIA on January 31st that Gaon will hold its first music awards show titled “1st Gaon Chart K-POP Awards 2011″ at the Blue Square Hall in Seoul on February 22nd.
KMCIA said, “Our awards ceremony will be the most fair, both in name and reality, since we select and award the most-loved songs, musicians, and pop artists based on the objective data we've compiled over the last year.”
Gaon will not only on awarding singers for their achievements, but they will also recognize those involved in the music industry including producers, distributors, composers, stylists, and choreographers.
Nominees and nominations have not yet been announced. But KMCIA has assured that many top K-Pop artists is expected to take part in the 1st Gaon Chart awards.
